Students are being turned away in areas where the needs are greatest.
While Fresno State does receive funding from the State, it isn’t nearly enough to maintain current campus facilities, let alone expand facilities to meet the needs of our local students.
Measure E would provide the necessary funds to repair outdated classrooms and labs, and upgrade and expand the campus to meet the growing demands and opportunities of our students.
More and expanded programs equate to more students, more graduates, and more jobs.

This measure requires open meetings, public disclosure of all spending, annual independent financial audits, and a citizens’ oversight committee. By law, at least two-thirds of all funds will be used to improve academic programs.
All funds will remain local and cannot be taken by the county, state or federal government or diverted to other purposes. These fiscal safeguards will ensure funds will be used efficiently, effectively, and as promised.
Facilities & Equipment
Many of the classrooms at Fresno State were built decades ago in the 1960’s, and are still in use today. These buildings are in need of essential health, safety and technology improvements.
Funds from this measure will be used to safely remove hazardous material including lead paint, asbestos and mold, repair leaky roofs and deteriorating restrooms, replace outdated fire, life, safety and security systems so students can learn in the safe and healthy environment that they need and deserve.
Campus Security
The security and safety of the Fresno State campus and surrounding neighborhoods are a major concern.
This measure will help improve video security cameras and lighting, emergency response systems, and training to better prepare for emergencies on campus, including active shooter situations.
In short, Measure E is an investment in Fresno County. Measure E is a proposed 0.25% sales tax for Fresno County that will provide approximately $63,000,000 annually for 25 years.
